Recently our lives have been anything but “normal.” Much of our day to day routines have been flipped upside down – then around again. Coronavirus has impacted the bridal industry significantly. At Dress Your Fancy we have adapted to new protocols and regulations. During this difficult time we offer all our customers support, even if it is not face-to-face.

We would like to offer you some peace of mind! Whether you are a bride struggling to plan a wedding, a bride without a dress, or a bride who’s wedding has been postponed – we have answers!! We’ve asked our brides to ask any questions they may have and have done our best to answer them.

Question: Do we have any plans for how to reopen?

Answer: As of May 1st businesses will be allowed to open on May 15th. Our plans for reopen are subject to state regulations. Once open if you are interested in finding your dream dress we must do it by appointment ONLY. This will include bridal, mother of the bride/groom, prom, etc. Please stay up to date with us on Facebook for more information regarding our reopen.

Question: Will there be enough time for alterations if my wedding is in October?

Answer: As of now there are no concerns. Once we are reopened we will be able to schedule your appointment for alterations. We can’t wait to work with you up until your big day!

Question: What is the best way to store your dress for an extended period of time? Any tips to ensure your dress will look great when the time comes?

Answer: We are so very sorry your wedding needed to be postponed. We recommend storing your dress in the garment bag provided by our shop. It is best if you store your gown in a closet, in the garment bag, and away from pets. This will keep your dress looking its best for your day!

Question: Should you bring heels with you to try on wedding dresses? Do you suggest trying shoes from your boutique?

Answer: If you would prefer to bring your own heels you may, but we do have a selection of heels at our shop if you’d like! We would suggest trying bridal dresses on without shoes. This makes it easier for you to try each dress on. During a bridal appointment we have our brides stand on 6inch podiums that allow for the hem of the dress to drop. This creates the same look the dress would have if you had on a pair of heels. If you still wish to see the gown with heels on, a heel can be added during the re-try portion of the appointment.

Question: Are dresses that are already ordered on schedule for production and delivery?

Answer: Dresses that have already been ordered are a bit behind unfortunately. Although this may be true we do not predict any major concerns with ordered dresses coming into our shop on time. During this time vendors are prioritizing dresses based on wear dates, so there is no concern for you if you have ordered your dress. If you have a sooner wear date please reach out to us @607-239-5056. We are in constant contact with our vendors and will be happy to send any information about ordered dresses.

Question: When should you start looking for “the dress?”

Answer: There is no “bad” time to start looking for your dream dress! We do however suggest about one year before your wedding to begin the journey. Doing so will give you plenty enough time from your first try-on appointment, to the wedding date. A wedding dress can take 4-6 months to arrive at our shop, also considering 2 months for alterations. One year before your wedding date will give you plenty enough time to find “the dress” and make any necessary adjustments. We hope to help you find your dream dress!

Question: Do you have purses to match any dresses?

Answer: We currently do not carry any purses at our boutique. If you are interested in finding the perfect purse to match your dress we would be happy to assist you. Please reach out and let us know how we can help!
